Retreat Day 2

Haven't had a lot of time to catch up on blogging today. We started out with a group breakfast, then break out sessions and a group lunch so we were busy all morning through 2:00. The kids and I went to one group session and then skipped out to have a couple of hours in the pool when it was less crowded. We relaxed a lot there and Lacey even got me to go down the slide. We tried to get Seth to but he is still a little scared of being shot into the water.

At 2:00, we met with others who wanted to go bowling and caravaned to the bowling alley. There were about 30 of us total and we had a great time. There is something about bowling with this group that brings about thunder and lightning. In Colorado the same thing happened only it started before we got to the bowling alley. This time, it was as we were leaving. I have some pictures posted in the Florence folder on Picasa that show the rain coming down as well as a picture will show you. It was fairly close at that time, bolts flashing pretty bright and thunder right on top of it. The storm was fast moving though and by the time we got back to the hotel we only had to stay in the car for a short period to avoid the monsoon that went along with it.

We went out later and got dinner from downtown and took it to the park. There was a clown group there to do face-painting and balloon animals. Most of the kids also went and played in the spray park. At 8:30, the spray park starts a 45 minute light show with music. About 8:15, another thunderstorm rolled in, but this was more heat lightning and minor thunder. We stayed for a while but almost everybody went back to the hotel.

After we came back to the hotel, Seth went to the room to play on Webkinz, Lacey went to hang out with the teens, and eight of us moms all sat in the porch area of the bar playing dice and watching the distant lightning. It was a lot of fun.
